Sometimes Life Sucks!

Let's be real!  The holiday season does not necessarily make life better for everyone.  As a matter of fact, the holiday season introduces stresses and situation that really stink.  Life Sucks!  That is about the only way to describe it.  If you have somehow fallen out of the normal pack and no longer can find the joy of the holiday season, know that I hear you and you are not alone.  However, just as others attempt to advise me and tell me I should not feel this way, I will refrain from doing so for you.  I know how futile such attempts are at helping those really hurt.

Demonstrate What You Believe

Matt. 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven."

Some who address Jesus Christ as Lord are not home free, even if they  think they are.

"There's a reason for that. It's not that He means for us to work our way into heaven - no.  God forgiving us is a free gift.  It's an act of grace purchased by the death of His Son at the Cross.
What He's saying is that when we accept Him into our hearts, our lives are supposed to be different.  Our lives should bear fruit.  If they don't, then there's something drastically wrong.".   Berni Dymet

The challenge for you and me:  What we believe, is demonstrated by what we do!

John Lennon - here?

If you have followed this blog at all, you realize that you would not expect to find any mention of John Lennon. Turns out, that an article in World magazine used the death of John Lennon at age 40 to make a good point. Based on that, I wrote a brief article in Triond.

Live your life for Jesus.

Postscript:  If you need more John Lennon, then here is one account of 'where I was' when I found out.

Before I trust you…

I have to know something about you. When I know enough, or as much as I can, then I must have the faith to believe you will deal with me in a manner consistent with what I understand about you. Based on that faith, I can trust you.

No offense, but anytime you trust another person, there is risk involved. People change and fail.

In order to trust God, the same criteria are involved. You must learn about Him, and what He has done is recorded in His Word. There you can learn how He thinks and the elements of His character. (Of course God is far more complex than a person; we will never totally understand.) Your understanding of God, when fueled by the Holy Spirit will lead you to believe that He is who He says He is, and then you can start to trust Him. Trust, obey and find peace!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on you own understanding
In all your ways acknowledge Him
And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5,6

God Also Commands

It is great to talk about how great God is. It is absolutely wonderful to discuss all the ways He demonstrates His magnificent love for us. But, sooner or later, we have to talk about His commands.

Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy…
Hebrews 12:14

People often act in a way that makes the first part of this command very difficult, and I often live contrary to the second part. Just the same, we must seek God’s grace and strive to meet the standard. We do this because we love Him, not because it will make Him love us more.
