Significant: Salt of the Earth

"You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. Matthew 5:13, ESV

Salt is significant for at least two things. Historically salt has been used to preserve food. Meat was salted to prevent corruption. Salt is also significant for adding flavor and variety to something that would otherwise be bland.

Christ tells his disciples that they are to be the salt of the earth. The earth and all that is in it has been corrupted by sin. That includes us. To think that God can use me to resist corruption is amazing. I can be use as a force for righteousness. Such an accomplishment would have to be directed by the hand of God.

The Christian can also enjoy the joys and significance of eternity brought into normal daily life. No matter how routine, that which is done for Christ is significant.

God Bless You,
Dennis

Google Search Box

Been a while since I've updated here. Let's hope that changes since there is much more to be said. I'm trying to clean up some issues with the template as well. My apologies for the google search box that is too wide for the left column. Still trying to figure out how to change that. If you know how, maybe you would be so kind as to post a comment here.

Thanks,
Dennis
